Athenry is a niuce little heritage town Kevin, know it well as my sister and partner's sister and brother live there. I heard of a group of Celtic fans who used to go there for an annual piss-up!

Doves - Words.

Maybe the best shoegazer type of song for the 2000-2009 decade sans the filtered guitars of 1990's MBV/Slowdive.

Narissa Nadler - Diamond Heart.

I figure Randy may like her.

Joint song of the day yesterday, in fact was by my twin daughters, my wife Alison, had started singing REM's We Walk from Murmer, prior to the girls ascending up the stairs for bedtime, and now they chant, religiously "Up the stairs to the landing, up the stairs into the hall, oh, oh, oh"!!!!

Spence, I first came across Marissa Nadler when I picked up a copy of For The Dead In Space: Volumes II & III ( tribute to Tom Rapp/Pearls Before Swine ) back in 2003. She covered 'Ballad Of An Amber Lady' from the album 'One Nation Underground' which Pearls Before Swine released in 1967. Her back catalogue is excellent.

Pizzicato Five! There's a band I haven't thought of in a very long time - not this century anyway. I think I have an EP of there's somewhere. Must have a look for it.

TROU - I love the Undertones, they have written so many perfect pop songs and the unique sound of the O'Neill brothers twin guitar attack is one of the greatest sounds in the universe. They still kick arse live as well

Last time I saw The Undertones they were playing a short set on the pitch before a Champions League match at Celtic Park. Maybe 3 or 4 years ago, they were all draped in Celtic regalia, cant remember what they played but I'm sure you can guess the last song!!
