Gosh, how did you come across this snippet Fredrik ? I experienced the cape in its full beauty at a G-Bs gig in London (Town and Country Club ?). At the end of a song a roadie came on on and carefully removed it from the great man; I always assumed it was a tribute to James Brown (there is some footage of him falling to his knees wearing a cape and someone comes on stage to remove it). But I could be wrong. At during this gig I was stunned to find myself with Tracy Thorn on one side of me and Liz of the Cocteau Twins on the other. They are both very small. | ||

Crosby grew up in Santa Barbara as I recall. The Byrds operated out of Los Angeles. It would be a very strange affectation to run around town with a cape in preparation for rain showers. Our annual rainfall is 15 inches. Santa Barbara's is even less. You're thinking like a Scotsman Andrew. He did it for the look. | ||
