Must watch Blue Velvet (for the millionth time)in his honor. For me, that was his best performance, not to mention one of the scariest villains in the history of cinema. |

Quite an amazing rollercoaster of a career, through several key phases of Hollywood film history. And his photos and art are interesting too! For 'Blue Velvet', was he not supposed to have told David Lynch "I will not play Frank Booth. I AM Frank Booth" ? It is a genuinely unsettling film... |

It's been a while since I've sat down and watched Blue Velvet. Hopper deserved to be nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for BV in 1986 but got nominated for Hoosiers instead (he lost out to Michael Caine in Hannah and Her Sisters). I loved his performances in Red Rock West, True Romance and Apocalypse Now. The color palet of Blue Velvet was stunning for the time and still holds up. |
