I reckon Robert must be a big Talking Heads fan (at least 77-81 era anyway), witness Here comes a city for a homage. Anyway, the first 4 Talking Heads albums have been remastered and reissued, and as well as being wonderful musically they now sound fantastic. My biggest regret is I never saw them live late 70s/early 80s |

Yeah, the Talking Heads were clearly a huge influence on the GoBs...Robert more than Grant, but tell me that Grant's vocals on "SMAL" aren't Byrne-ish. Many of the tracks on the bonus disc of "Spring Hill Fair" seem very Heads-influenced, with those chattering guitars and semi-funky bass. And I always thought Lindy's semi-martial drumming style owed something to Chris Frantz's style on the first three Heads albums, though she might not agree. It is too bad you missed them live--I was lucky enough to see them twice in that era and they were exceptional. |

I've always thought those first three Heads albums were among the best ever released. And I saw them a couple of times late 70s, early 80s and you missed some fine gigs Kevin. |
