Wow, really sad news: http://shelf-life.ew.com/2010/07/12/harv ey-pekar-appreciation-comics-graphic/

Anyone who hasn't read his work or seen the film about him, both called "American Splendor," really needs to! This is truly a sad loss, the man was brilliant.

Agreed, Jeff...been reading and loving his stuff since the 80s, and once got into a brief on-page conversation with him in the pages of the Comics Journal. The list of ailments he was reported to be suffering from doesn't surprise me one bit

Sad loss of a great talent. Paul Giamatti gave a perfect performance portraying Harvey in the American Splendor film.

Giamatti will be portraying another author, this time Philip K. Dick in the semi-biopic film The Owl in Daylight. The movie is currently in production at Giamatti's own production company.
