Just got back from Shepherds Bush where we followed the annual (well nearly) ritual of seeing Braggy play. Awesome - played and chatted for a little over two hours, solo and for a big part of the set with Ian McLagen on keyboards (one song at the end of the main set with Wiggy, too. Has anyone else seen him on this tour? What did you think? And while I'm here my friend reckons he's seen Billy Bragg (about) 60 times over the years since the early-80s. Perhaps he should get out more - or at least go somewhere else when he is out! Is anyone here that obsessive about anyone . . . | ||

Cant say I have ever liked Billy Bragg. Apart from that album that REM played on, it had Sexuality on it. Otherwise he passed my by. | ||

I have always loved Billy Bragg more his 'love songs "than his political. Saw him alot when he was first starting out but last time I saw him was in sheffield around 1992. He is great live but some how I've not really loved anything of his since william Bloke.I'm not getting out as much as I should and may be a bit of Billy would go down a treat. | ||

I like him now more than ever. the elder statesman! He's unpredictable with his voews, however the Mermaid Avenues were so well done, I still remain impressed to this day. Wilco are great of course!!!!!!! | ||

I've seen him twice on this tour (in Liverpool and Manchester). I liked the Liverpool one better, because it's not an all-seater venue (Manchester was in the Bridgewater Hall). Unfortunately, (and not wanting to get too political) looking at what's happening in Barking/Dagenham, it doesn't look like the tour was that successful. Cheers Jon | ||

Yeah - but maybe the fascists don't get beat overnight. Actually the amount of press they seem to be having today is quite positive in a roundabout way as from what I hear the interviewers are skillfully leading them to speak like the complete dickheads that they are. (I know that it's much more complicated than that). Certainly the fascists will not be beaten in a Billy Bragg concert itself when (while it's marvellous so to do)we all bask in the comfortable slippers that are BB. What we all have to be doing to make sure that the fascists lose is to take it outside on to the streets and in to our everyday lives - sorry I know that the board is no soapbox! |
