Kevin, what's the Gnarls Barkley album like? You mentioned it a while ago. I got the single just because you and the NME raved about it and I love it. Very Sly & The Family Stone.

I also got the Flaming Lips single (Yeah, Yeah, Yeah Song) at the weekend without having previously heard it - and I love that too. What a great wee pop song.

My favourite track of the moment, and single of the year so far for me, is the brilliant Download This Song by MC Lars. I could not find it in a record shop so I took Lars at his word.

Padraig, Gnarls Barkley is a great pop/soul/rnb album, although the single is easily the best track. I am a massive Flaming Lips fan but the sheen is wearing off for me a bit with the new album. Yeah x3 Song is great, but the 3 or 4 songs after it on the album are dull. Things pick up again on what would be the old side 2 of the album thankfully.
The MC Lars track is very clever - a bit like Green Day with beats. Probably the closest The Ig will get to the charts due to the Passenger sample.

When do you reach Germany Padraig? Hopefully you have a laptop, or internet access in your accomodation, because I look forward to your daily World Cup diary!!

I fly to Ireland on Friday Kevin (getting in on Saturday) and then to Frankfurt on Tuesday for the Korea v Togo game that afternoon. I'll be posting something about the experience for sure.

I did get Scott Walker's "The Drift." I've heard it once so far. I confess it made me laugh a few times. Its the soundtrack for a remake of "Psycho."

Tom Verlaine - Songs and Other Things
Camera Obscura - Let's Get Out of This Country
Mojave 3 - Puzzles Like You

The latter recommended by a friend who said the songs remind him a bit of GM and Martin Phillipps. Um...not sure I hear it, but pretty good stuff nonetheless.

scott walker's new album sounds like a trip to hell.
dante's divine comedy is -in contrast- seems like a journey with your family through the glory paradise.
i am not sure if i ever will listen to this work again.

Kurt,

Have you picked up the remastered Slowdive cd's yet? Just for a Day and Souvlaki get double disc treatments and Pygmalion is just a single.

Michael, I don't know Slowdive, to tell you the truth. Though I just discovered we have "Souvlaki" on a shared music drive at work, so I'll have to check it out.
