Kraftwerk - Boing Boom Tschak Always nice to see an Influence nick a few tricks from one of the Influenced (in this case, Art of Noise) and make something so fun. Also, every little kid I've played this for over the years has been on their feet dancing before 30 seconds have passed. |

yashar is my favourite cab voltaire song (beside their incredible nag nag nag). whenever everyone talks (or i read) about cabaret voltaire this song immediately jumps into my mind and i ''sing-a-long'' this song. cheers |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgZSnAkQc 4c&NR=1&feature=fvwp just because i was looking for rory gallagher/rockpalast stuff on you tube... ... but to be true in 1974 (i was eleven) i listened a lot to the made in japan album. the same year deep purple's album 'burn' was released. one of my early album buying highlights. strange, that this kind of music was kind of 'mainstream' at that time. at least i have known a lot of young peoples (i.e. childs) who liked such music. in comparison with today (and i know from what i am talking: my son is twelve) these times were really 'strange'. |

That was very fun to watch Andreas. I can't stand Deep Purple but it's still interesting to me because Ritchie Blackmore was one of Joe Meek's long-serving session guitarists in the early & mid 60s. He was known for his fast flashy playing. After Meek he went and lived in Germany for awhile and that might be one reason DP were playing there. I love the kids with the half-long hair proudly shaking their manes. They'd won that battle with their parents and the victory was still fairly recent. And think of the time and the place: the erection of the Berlin Wall wasn't all that long before. This was still an embattled little enclave. This video is a neat document. |

frank zappa - uncle remus 5 years later after i was a purple fan i became a zappa fan. uncle remus from the album apostrophe (!). strange lyrics. i have a book with the lyrics and the translations. but i still do not understand what the lyrics mean. Wo... are we movin' too slow? Have you seen us, Uncle Remus . . . We look pretty sharp in these clothes (yes, we do) Unless we get sprayed with a hose It ain't bad in the day If they squirt it your way 'Cept in the winter, when it's froze An' it's hard if it hits On yer nose On yer nose Just keep yer nose To the grindstone, they say Will that redeem us, Uncle Remus . . . I can't wait till my Fro is full-grown I'll just throw 'way my Doo-Rag at home I'll take a drive to BEVERLY HILLS Just before dawn An' knock the little jockeys Off the rich people's lawn An' before they get up I'll be gone, I'll be gone Before they get up I'll be knocking the jockeys off the lawn Down in the dew |

Stuart, I only started listening to Radiohead a couple of years ago. It was wonderful to catch up on all that brilliant music I'd previously ignored since the exact same time you've ignored them from! |

I don't know, there was something artsy-farsty about the whole deal I didn't like the sound of...nothing I read about them really made me want to actually listen to them...though listening to them to find out would only have been sensible, of course. |

Stuart, I loved Creep immediately and could not hear albums like OK Computer because the music was strange to me and so different to Creep-Punk... Some years later I saw a guy in a record shop who bought Radiohead albums. I gave them a new chance and was fascinated by the music. In the early 80s the same thing happened to me with "The Fall". Heared one side of an early album I bought on a fleemarket, that was highly acclaimed. But after hearing the A side I felt my stomach and thought what the hell is that... A while after that I found the 7" "How I wrote elastic man" for about one pound and that found a way to my heart and I understood his music. Now I am a Fall fan as well... |

A new song from The Apartments ? Or is this a rerecording of an old song ? Anyway the beautiful 'Black Ribbons' with Peter Walsh sharing vocals with Natasha Penot... Download it from here as a mp3 http://www.magicrpm.com/infos/the-apartm ents/telechargez-i-black-ribbons-i-et-as sistez-a-notre-session-privee (link marked Télécharger Black Ribbons (cliquez droit sur le lien et enregistrez sous)) And there seems to be an alternative version mixed by John Willsteed here http://soundcloud.com/peter_milton_walsh /black-ribbons. |

Andrew, thanks for the Apartments links! I can't figure out how to download from the French link but I can listen to it. I think I prefer the second version, with Wilsteed. Hopefully this means an album is in the works. |
