Don't know if there are too many Galaxie 500 fans on here, Mr XY is certainly a Luna one as far as I recall. You can certainly still hear their influences in some of this year's best albums from Beach House and AVI Buffalo. This might be more tempting if Damon & Naomi dropped in too but wishful thinking..... Dean Wareham plays Galaxie 500 live on KEXP - Oct. 20 The D&B band will be playing a short set (5 or 6 songs) of Galaxie 500 songs on KEXP next Wednesday October, 20th at noon. You can listen live at 90.3 FM in Seattle & worldwide at KEXP.ORG The performance will be available to listeners on their streaming archive at KEXP.ORG for two weeks after the live broadcast. |

we've had a few minor discussions on here before, nothing too complimentary if i remember rightly. speaking personally i find them tuneless and derivative of other bands, with dreadful vocals to boot. massive critics darlings on both sides of the pond, both at the time and now. luna did some nice stuff, although a compilation would probably suffice for me. |

I'll join Kevin in perfering Luna over Galaxie 500, although I wouldn't mind owning an 1961 Galaxie Starliner or a 1963 Galaxie 500 XL. The Britta Phillips & Dean Wareham album L'Avventura is highly recommended, and it's on the Jetset lable! |

Never heard the above stream at the time and was away from a computer for a couple of weeks afterwards so didnt try. He is touring playing Galaxie500 songs and plays The Workman's Club, Dublin in February. Kevin bring a sleeping bag if you're gonna queue for the Glasgow show because ...there's gonna be a snowstorm when the TV has gone out. |
