Hello, I'm trying to work out the guitar and bass lines for this song - which you'd think would be easy, but for some reason I can't get it. Does anyone know how to play it? |

Hello Joe, I haven't worked out this song before, but if you'd like I could make it my next guitar tab project. I can only have a crack at it for it does sound more involved than most of the other songs I've transcribed. |

Hey, that would be great - I want it to be the first song that my new band learns how to play - to get off on the right foot, as it were. I kind of worked out a few bits, but the 'chord' parts elude me. I love all the 'lullaby' era stuff, and the stuff on the 'hollywood' extras disc in particular - i was delighted to see 'your turn..' worked out! I think 'hammer' and 'by chance' are two of my favourite goB songs ever, the pefect single... |

That's great that you want your band to learn it, Joe. I miss playing covers with my mates. The first song I ever performed in front of a live audience was the Easybeats' "She's So Fine" at a High School concert which still stands as my most triumphant moment. I play in a strictly originals band (save for the occassional Elvis or Woody Guthrie number) and only pick up the guitar at home to write my own songs. These tabs are a nice distraction from that and keep my musical mind ticking. My "Hammer" tab is coming along swimmingly: I've done the bass parts and the guitar solos but I've yet to transcribe the 'chord' parts that you find difficult. They are indeed the most difficult part of any song for me as they are a lot quieter in the mix and don't usually seem to have as defined a pattern. Basically though, the chords just vary between E4 and E major (just alternate between 1st and 2nd fret on the G string within an otherwise stanard E major chord shape). I've noticed I can't access your email information, Joe, so if you want the tab, which I should have finished by tommorrow, ASAP get my email info by clicking on my name and I'll post you it privately. Jonathan says he is very busy at the moment so he might not get around to posting it on the tabs page for a while. Cheerio. |
