Please Take is probably the best song on the new Wire album, imo.

Hot - James Brown

The song where he basically said to Bowie, "sue me motherf***er, I dare you."

Down by the Water - The Decemberists

I thought this (and a couple of others) sounded suspiciously like Peter Buck's jangle and apparently it is!
This bodes very well for the new R.E.M. album. The snippet of a song from the new album that I've heard sounds MOST promising too. More of the guitars that got me into them in the first place. About time they rediscovered their strengths (1st 4 albums) and stopped rediscovering their weaknesses (Monster).
Long live the jingle jangle!!!!!

Geoff, I like the new Decemberists album and PB's jingle jangle contributions to it as well, so I went ahead and pre-ordered Collapse Into Now. I also ordered Avi Buffalo.

All India Radio's Asphixciate, featuring the lovely Graham Lee on pedal steel, is even better.

Allen, I always thought that Eddie was at his best in the early and mid 1980's. Although to be honest I was a bigger fan of SCTV then of Eddie Murphy era SNL.

Yeah, he was about the only thing worth watching during that era...the one that followed, which featured a couple of SCTV members and Christopher Guest's gang was pretty good.
