Piero Ciampi – Il vino Great hymn to the element that would eventually kill him by a unique Italian voice that occasionally threatens to stumble back into fashion, despite record company indifference and an almost completely unavailable back catalogue: unlike most Italian singer-songwriters, Ciampi took his influence from Brel and traditional folk rather than Dylan (though he did apparently spend a convivial Parisian evening with Leonard Cohen back in the 60s), favouring sharp, sardonic punch-to-the-gut lyrics rather than wild poetic metaphor. Some fine Spanish guitar flurries here, meanwhile, to ornament the bar-toasted vocals. |

Dick Diver's new single "Tearing the Poster's Down". It is wonderful to hear a great band in its prime. https://soundcloud.com/troubleinmind/dic k-diver-waste-the-alphabet |

Stereolab - Cybele's Reverie. Sometimes I think it's the greatest electronic pop song ever. |

Patty Pravo - Se perdo te One of those stunning late-60s Italian ballads, actually a cover of PP Arnold's The time has come, majestically sung by Patty, so gorgeous back then that you really just want to smear her deftly with Nutella and tuck her between two slices of bread. |

Stuart, There are other forums available on the internet for your perverse sexual fantasies. Probably even specific ones covering 1960 Italian singers. And hazelnut spreads. Back to "Song of The Day" Yonathan Avishai & Modern Times trio - Dancing Child |

You're right, Andrew. I apologise. I came to Nutella late on in life and it did hit the old ventral tegmentum rather hard. However, the GB board is about as perverse as it gets for me. Meanwhile, March is shaping up well, with the new albums from Courtney, Dominique A and the expanded Evening visits reissue. |

Yes, I'm really looking forward to the Dom A release. I'm still agnostic as to Courtney Barnes. Time will tell. Meanwhile Jeff Whiteaker--formerly of these parts--sent me a track by Nite Fields, a current post-punk revival group from Brisbane with a female drummer! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TXnMy86 Gts I have it on order. |

Dominique A - Au revoir mon amour I prefer when he's in more experimental mode and the first two extracts indicate a very traditional soft-melodic piece of work: but his voice is always a thing of beauty, as in this case is the stunning video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORG7pSYa s4I |

Robbie Williams - Come undone Well, if you have to get dragged out on to the terrace for some post-Saturday lunch stupor winter gardening, you might as well have a decent compilation to bang out - here was that brief moment when Robbie's narcissistic I-maybe-don't-deserve-all-this self-loathing rubbed up against a clutch of great tunes to produce some fine pop. |
