Spring weather always brings the Go-Betweens discog to the fore for me. And it reminds me to mention something I happened upon last week: New Jersey band Real Estate will never match Forster-McLennan for lyrical acuity, but they make a very attractive twin-guitar plus synth pads sound not that far removed from mid-period GBs (although to be fair they are, on the whole, more paisley underground/Feelies sounding). Your mileage may vary. That said, they've been using Bachelor Kisses as walkout music on their current tour, a nice nod to a band whose catalog they're clearly familiar with. I hear a slowed-down hint of Cattle And Cane's central riff in Real Estate's 2012 song Younger Than Yesterday. (Studio version here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5cM_43GX NU) ----Len in Toronto |

Thanks Leonard. Our first Canadian post I think? Don't be a stranger. We're a (mostly) friendly bunch. |

Cheers Len, Will be listening out for Bachelor kisses in Whelans Dublin on May 27th. Their offshoot Ducktails' "Killing The Vibe" is one of my favourite tunes of recent years. Kurt Vile in the same venue for me next Monday night...big GBs similarities in some of his music also although he could use some of Robert's legendary Hair Tips. |

Peter, someone really does need to tell Mr Vile the truth about his hair. Seize the moment. |

Real Estate has a nice playlist on spotify, some of the inspirations for the new album, including You Tell Me. |
