Its not bad Padraig, I heard it on Napster but cant remember much about it to be honest. I'm at work so cant stick it on, I'll give it a play tomorrow(or is that today!) and let you know |

I've downloaded it in the meantime (paid for, I hasten to add); so I'll post my comments here too when I listen to it! |

Played both their albums last night and liked them very much. There's a big XTC/ Beach Boys thing going on there. The singer's voice reminded me of the guy in Beloved on a couple of tracks (a good thing BTW). |

Yes Padraig, when I played it today I could hear XTC. I like the fact they sometimes use vocal refrains rather than choruses. Check these reviews. http://www.metacritic.com/music/artists/fieldmusic/fieldmusic?q=field%20music The Beloved were a strange band. Didnt they start out lumped in with the C86 scene, contemporaries of The Mighty Lemondrops etc and sounding a bit like Joy Division/New Order. Fast forward a few years and after they discovered E they went all blissed out and joined the rave scene! |

Kevin, having checked those reviews I realised that the last three tracks on the US version of the album are also on the mini-album. So I paid twice for those three tracks as I downloaded both albums. Doh! I'd be much more pissed off if it was not such good music though. |

Oh dear Youre right though Padraig about the quality, I hadnt played it for a good few months and was surprised at how good it sounded. I'm sure there some link between them and the Futureheads, its certainly not a musical link though cos they sound poles apart |

At least one of the Futureheads used to be in Field Music. As for The Beloved; I really like their trippy "we've discovered dance music" albums. The song Outerspace Girl is a classic of its kind. Must play it again. Just checked and I have a Beloved album on the iPod. Result! Something to play on the way home. It's just one of the two brothers in Field Music that reminds me of the guy in The Beloved. The one that sings less often. |
