Why don't we set this up!? We could post all our indivdual pics on there and leave more messages as if we haven't go enough to do, it just requires someone to administrate!? kev? Hardin? Jerry(s)? Padraig? TROU? |

Not a bad idea, Spence, but I couldn't do this anymore than I already do it, if that makes sense...something tells me I'd still post on this board, too.... But you know what? It's a good idea to be thinking about...Not to a pessimist, but someday they're probably going to shut this one down and it would be nice to have a forum for us fine folk to babble our bullshit on and keep in touch! |

Not a bad idea. Seeing as I have not updated my own myspace for months though I wouldn't be able to be administrator. Hardin, I don't think this site will be closed down. Not with the EMI re-re-re-releases to come and Robeert's future solo work. Last weekend Sydney's Sunday Telegraph mentioned the first six albums being re-released which made me panic that the EMI versions were already out - but it seems the article was just referring to the re-releases from over four years ago (for the first three), but giving the impression they were just out! At least it keeps the band in the public eye, and they used a nice picture too. |

Jeez, I think I took a whole day and a half off here and look what's happening. I am very much in favor of this idea because I dunno how long this board will keep going. Isn't it being done by Lo-Max? |

Just to put your minds at rest, I shall continue to keep this site running as long as people are looking at it. If anyone wants to put their pictures on this site, just go to Edit Profile (just over there on the left). Jonathan |

Cool, I didn't start this thread thinking anyone was gonna withdraw the msg board, I just figured it was fitting for such a die hard community to have a MySPace in this day and age of MySPace!! Be quite funny to have apic of the users, though bet there won't be too many! Cheers and thanks for keeping things up and running Jonathan. |

That is good to know Jonathan. I knew it wouldn't anyway. Spence, good on you for setting that up, but what is that awful picture? I'm saying awful because of what I'm thinking it is, but hopefully it is not what I think it is. (I know this is oblique, but not wilfully so. You really don't want to know what it looks like to me if it is not that). |

Its Grants handwritten lyrics to Boundary Rider from a US radio show last year. I thought it would be cool. S |

Well, no offense to the work you've done, Spence, but as long as this site is functioning, I don't see the point of a MySpace site too, except maybe to post audio clips and additional pix or something. For the ongoing message board chat, it seems unnecessary to have two different sites to go to. I hope this isn't the start of a Go-Betweens trainspotter civil war, where some of us stay here and some drift over to MySpace! |

I see that Spence has already posted a pic on this board(click on his name to view) after Jonathans tip - although maybe it was always there. As I dont own a camera I have a grand total of about 3 pics from about 10 yrs ago, and one of thems a passport pic. I might dig out the scanner and post it up for a laugh. anybody else brave enough - no excuses now!! |

If you're brave enough, I'm in. I'm sure I can find a tiny blurry picture. We're going to discover that all Go-Betweens fans basically look alike. |

Don't know if you're on a PC or Mac, but here's a really nice freeware program that you can use to resize and otherwise alter graphics: http://www.irfanview.com/ Should be pretty easy to figure out how to resize pictures after you install it. |

Guys MySpace is alive and well, i was gonna call it the 'OffTopics", maybe that can be the tribute band!! The only real reason for MySpace was so we could leave a msg, and create a sense that we exist outside as well as inside this msg world of The Go-Betweens. Som u know we could leave a pic comment, msg email eachother etc etc. I don't think anyone would fancy leaving this Mag Board behind. I see good ol Padrai is on there and I am on albeit with my winnebago thing, so common chaps/chapesses get on board.!! Kev, if you have a photo programme go to image size make sure keep constraints box isn't checked and trhen in the pixel fields type in 100 and 100 in each of depth and width fields and it will squeeze what ever size pic into that desired area. Might look shit, if you say, have a panoramic pic of Loch ness for instance!!!! But if you have a lovely portrait shot and you are feelingthin, it might put a few pounds on you!! Padraig, I see you got a MySpace to Pete Paphides. I know Pete, do you know him? He was on the scene with me and many others in Birmingham many many years ago in the late 80's early 90's he briefly played drums in a jangly band i had called gerald. he and his brother acky who had got something to do with dubsex. he wrote a wonderful fanzine called perturbed, really funny fanzine it was too, the guy is a comic genius. he also wnet out with my wife's best pal too. i hadn't eard from him for ages then he gave my band a bgret write up inmelody maker in '93 then the next i saw he was working for the guardian and writing sleeve nites for croded house best of. he is a deserving journalist. |

Padraig, just checked out your myspace - nice one. lots of names I recognise - Andrew Mueller I always liked as a journalist for Melody Maker (I remember MM gave away this book and it included an article by their journalists on their favourite album of all time - Andrews choice was Liberty Belle by some obscure wee Australian band - wonder if it still is?) Dave Couse - wasnt he in the Irish band A House - I relly liked them - whats he doing now? |

Kevin, you look like you should be in a late 80s Scottish Josef K type band! Dave Couse plays solo these days. His guitarist, Peter Meighan, is from the same village as me in SW Ireland. I met him in June and we had a good chat. Nice lad. Spence and Kevin, I don't know either Peter or Andrew Mueller, I just liked their writing in MM. I also got Andrew's book a few years ago and enjoyed it very much. |

I was lucky enough to have supported AHouse a few times in '93, during the I am the greatest period. They were lovely fellas. Didn't get to know Dave that well but the guitarist Seamus? He looked reaally menacing coz he was big and he was a big softy! they were extremely loud if i remember. dave couse played a big fat gretsch acoustic like a gibson jumbo. thier music was very very tight and quite unique. |

The guitarist's name is Fergal Bunbury. He is indeed a lovely man and a very gentle soul. He is also, after me, the world's least likely Public Enemy fan! I once did a radio show with him on It Takes A Nation Of Millions. He wanted to do it on Yo! Bum Rush The Show. Bloody purist! |

Padraig, that's it, fergal, it was the bass player who was seamus i think! the 98 posse eh!? one gig i di with them was at the barrell organ in digbeth birmingham. it was a n old Irish pub and hada waelth oif history it had been standing for years in the relatively untouched Digbeth High st, of which was featured in the clash video Rude Booy, when they played digbeth covic hall, now the institute. it was torched last month which is sad. i saw everyone form the wedding present to the cult there! |
