Nick Drake - Hazey Jane II. I don't think I've ever seen the influence of soul on Nick Drake's sound written about, but songs like this beauty make it obvious. |

Endless Bob Brown -- See the World. Mix a voice that sounds almost like Malcolm Eden of McCarthy, guitar work reminiscent of Vini Reilly and backing vocals like mid-60s Beach Boys and it's magic even with the rough recording. Sorry I can't find the song on YouTube. Interesting observation about Nick Drake, Padraig. I think because of the guitar I think of that one as country rock-ish. But as Gram Parsons once said, country is just white soul music and sure enough you can take a song from genre and easily convert it to the other. Bryter Layter is my favorite of his records. It's not hurt by the occasional presence of P.P. Arnold. |

Randy, It almost feels as though I find a new Zac Denton recording each time I go online. Several members of the Ocean Party are in Pregnancy and Ciggie Witch. Pregnancy released their debut album ( Urgency ) in July, 2017 and Ciggie Witch released their third album ( Mad Music ) in October, 2017. If you not already familiar with Last Leaves, you might want to check out their album 'Other Towns Than Ours' which has just been released on Lost And Lonesome Records in Australia and Matinee Recordings in the U.S.A. Formed from the ashes of The Lucksmiths. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uA0WPHQ8 SPU |

Hugh, thanks for the info. I like this one better. Plus it makes me want to go back down under. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbvbdQ5K JlI "All those indistinguishable days." I personally could live without the crunchy guitar, a sound I suspect I will never like again. But other people do like it. |

I Figured You Out, Elliott Smith on the expanded Either Or. I have listened tirelessly in the car this seemingly unreleased song, on repeat mode for a 300 km trip... |

New Roussel? I like the Louise Attaque reunion record well enough. I have only one Roussel solo album, "Ginger." It's about half good. What I keep looking for is another Barbara Carlotti album. |

I'd Rather have the Blues that What I've Got - Nat King Cole Many, many years ago (I'm guessing 1981/1982 during my first year at university) I discovered the film noir sans pareil Kiss Me Deadly, and this is the theme that runs through it... |
