I just tried to copy the new Yo La Tengo album, which I just ripped to iTunes, on to my iPod. It won't do it; I'm getting an error message saying that the files are of a type that can't be played on the iPod. Has anybody else had this problem?

I really hope this doesn't mean that Matador--long one of the best indie labels--has decided to become iPod-unfriendly.

Never mind. I disconnected and reconnected my iPod, tried again, and now it's copying the files. Who knows what the problem was the first time.

Just following Internet Protocol 101: overreact, post outraged message, THEN troubleshoot the problem.

This has opened up an interesting topic Kurt. The only CD that would never copy for me was the first Kings of Leon album which was copyright protected. thats not to say that I dont own others that are copyright protected, because I dont try to copy every CD I own. im sure i read something that said that recored labels wanted to adopt copyright protection on all their CDs but it was cost prohibitive, as well as sure to hack their long suffering customers off even more than they already were

Kev are you on PC or MAC? People I know who have tried and failed copying tend to be on PC, for some reason MAC seems to let you do it in itunes. I am MAc by the way.

Yes Spence, PC for me. However, I have a Creative Zen Micro which is compatabile with Napster so no worries there.

Hey, that's a good thread for the future: Mac or PC? I, ahem, go both ways (Mac at work; PC at home until two weeks ago). But I haven't fired up the old PC much since buying a MacBook laptop recently.
