A late start to February, shame it had to be with a tribute. I haven't followed his career latterly, but his first bunch of solo albums - rapturously reviewed in my well-thumbed Italian Encylopedia of Rock & Pop, which is probably where I first heard about him - is a striking collection of work, including a fine covers album, from which this thing of great beauty is taken. Not being grunge guy, Mark Lanegan appeared on my radar when he released "Ballad of the Broken Seas" with Isobel Campbell. In fact, I think I was introduced to the record on this board. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEkPxz8Q P3c&list=PL95CE79B8AB544E07&index=4 |

Stumbled by chance upon this strangely heartening global version of this wonderful song. Good to see Livorno in there with some cool guitar from Roberto Luti! Robbie, Ringo & a world of musicians – The Weight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ph1GU1qQ 1zQ |

Thanks for that, Stuart. Yeah, it's something I needed to see this California morning. |

This Is The Kit – Bullet Proof https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgp5KJRT Okg This is a lovely song, the cool voice and mandolin, though the lyrics baffle me rather… how, if you’re bullet proof, do you let too many bullets through? Why are you swimming and bailing at the same time and how do bullet holes rush in? |
