The two new Chills songs played at Martin Phillipps' funeral, which was livestreamed earlier today. It was a very moving ceremony. |

REM - Seven Chinese Brothers Been listening to early, pre-Green-megastardom-era REM recently. And I love the wilfully obscure and oft-mumbled lyrics! Though I'm guessing it's not for everyone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBBeqJZ8 0F8 |

Lael Neale – Electricity Ah, I do have a weakness for a song that kicks off with a bit of robustly strummed acoustic guitar. Lovely retro voice. I liked one of her previous things, too. Great fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WJj9k59 HSU |

Fontaines D.C. - Bug. Their most Go-Betweens-esque song since Roy’s Tune on their debut. |

That Lael Neale song is great. Star-Eater’s Delight is her best album, I’d say. SotD for me is The Day the Mississippi Died from Gillian Welch’s new album. The album is pretty good. It’s not as good as Revival or Time (the Revelator) but not many are. |

Richard Hawley - Some Candy Talking. An immaculate cover of the JAMC song, done in quite a Go-Betweensesque style. |
