Kim Deal - Nobody Loves You More

A brief, beautiful love song of almost Forsterian simplicity and directness, but with a plush Barryish orchestral surge. Best thing I've heard over the last few days.

Melissa Mary Ahern - The Truth.

Based in Brooklyn, she was in a band called She & the Sun who put an album out in 2012. She’s collaborated with Sufjan Stevens. Next month she releases her debut solo album on a British label at the age of 35.

Billy Bragg, Michael Stipe et al - Another Girl, Another Planet

In spite of some dodgy harmonies, this is fantastic. How many guitars? And Natalie Merchant dancing!

Life affirming!

Good Morning - Just in time

Cool when the first song of the day is both a good listen and by two guys from Melbourne. Nice Wings-style buzzy guitar sound.

Bob Dylan - Must Be Santa!

A Christmas song as only ol' Bob could do. Genius? Not sure about that, but it is marvellous.

All the best to fellow Go-Betweens fans for Christmas and 2025. I can't say I'm optimistic about what the new year might hold for the planet, but we can always hope.

And we always have music to help us through difficult times.

Happy Christmas to everyone from a warm and sunny Sydney.

Right now, I'm listening to R.E.M.'s Christmas singles, so they're my multiple songs of the day, but the hilarious Christmas Griping is the overall number 1.

This just arrived for me today. Merry Christmas everybody, in my case from a cloudy and not very warm Los Angeles.

REM Christmas singles? Never heard them before! Will check them out after lunch. Icy winds sweeping the Italian tundra here, I hope it's warmer wherever you may be and that 2025 will be a kinder year for the world. Gulp.

Damien Jurado – Silver Joy

Good to see a Labi Siffre song on the Holdovers soundtrack, even better to be acquainted with this beautifully austere ballad which fits such a classically constructed film so perfectly.

Really enjoyed the BobD Santa song, Simon! Genius? I think that's exactly what it is! Will have to see the new Dylan film in Italian first if I want to see it sooner, lord knows what the Italian dubber will do with his voice, though at least the songs will be untouched.

Nubya Garcia – Triumphance

Sitting in a bustling London pub with a pint of citrusy IPA is enough to induce a certain level of serenity in me, but with an unexpectedly good soul/reggae soundtrack, even better. I’d no idea what this particular song was and hopped up to ask the busy barguy who, no surprise, grunted through the mob, “Just streamin’ stuff, mate.” By chance, it just turned up on the radio.

U2 - New Year's Day

Not a huge fan of Bono and co, but this was them at their peak and it's a belter. And it's also a great opportunity to with you all the best for 2025, which some of you have already reached.
