Probably because of the country where I live and also of course because of the season I'm often reading a lot of stuff about religion when all I had in mind was reading the news. But it reminded me of a song that says all I like to think about for my own version of religion. My song of the day is: The Felt Tips - Garden of Roses https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqBrg3ys Dx8&list=RDsqBrg3ysDx8&start_radio=1 Happy Holidays everyone! |

Dreadlock Holiday - 10cc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUNTk5xs xk4 I'm presently in the Caribbean and this came to my mind, while trying not to cry over the present England cricket debacle. The last time I was away from the UK for Christmas was 1988 - backpacking in India!!! I'm slightly surprised this hasn't been cancelled, but when Graham Gouldman plays it (and he does, I've seen him twice this year) he says it gets the thumbs up from his West Indian friends, so I can rest easy on this. Amusingly, he'd never seen a live game of cricket until this year https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c365r8 5xp2wo Have a great festive break, people, whatever your beliefs. And, frankly, here's hoping to a better 2026, though I could be whistling in the wind. (I'm doing okay, but I feel the world is going to hell in a handcart even quicker than usual...) |

Paul Kelly – From St Kilda To Kings Cross A song probably everyone else here knows but I think I heard from the first time today. Being a random choice by my sister in law’s Alexa, I was trying to work out the geography based on the UK, which made no sense at all, even if there was a bus that made such a complex journey, and then, why cut across Oxford St? Until the penny dropped. Beautiful lyric, anyway. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AV1FW_FC jx8 |

Stuart, in 1997 I saw Paul Kelly play in a pub in Dublin. He was explaining where St Kilda and Kings Cross were, then suddenly stopped and said “You’re all Australian, aren’t you.” And apart from me and a handful of others, he was right. Happy new year. |
