This might be one for our Oz correspondants, anybody heard of a band called Devestations. I read in a Sunday paper today a glowing review of a band called Devestations and their album called "Coal" Here are some snippets "Australian trio, frontman Conrad Standish's vocals stand out, recalling Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen. The album is full of slow burning songs that are dark, broody and seductive.... the band have been compared to The Go-Betweens but they call to mind Mark Lanegan" Sounds interesting, and they are on Beggars Banquet who have had a decent roster of bands over the years. Napster have it so I will download and report back later on. | ||

Well must say this album is pretty good on first listen, although the only Go-Bs connection I could detect was the fact they are also Australian. The Nick Cave comparison was closest, although only vocally not musically. I thought they sounded a bit like The National(who I love) or Tindersticks maybe. | ||
