...Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the Message Boarder of the Year 2007 Awards. Its been an adventurous year on the board and obviously a very sad one, but we continue with hapiness to celebrate the sounds of the Go Betweens. Whilst we warmly welcome recent new boarders, what we are looking for is the person who you feel over the last year with all their posts deserves this year's award! Who floated your boat this year? who made you laugh, enraged you, flattered you, made you ponder, pis*ed you off, made you run around the garden with glee, made you bungee jump off the bridge in Syndey? Blimey, 2007 what a year, unfortunately I was cryogenically frozen for the whole year and it looks like I have woken just in time for these awards. Hope Roberts solo album was good, did Celtic win the Champions league and did I have a good holiday in Australia? Seriously Spence, I would find it hard to choose. However,if pushed Randy would just pip it because a few of his posts made me laugh out loud at his wit. | ||

I vote for Kev. First among his boardmen, first to reach 1,000. He is the Father of our board. His tireless interest in, and devotion to, music is amazing. And Spence, you get "Miss Congeniality". You probably make me laugh more than anyone here, though I honestly don't always understand your posts. Must be the culture gap. And some position of honor should be afforded that Teutonic wunderkind, Andreas. For communicating so well, even cracking jokes, in a second language. He's much more fluent than many native speakers I know... | ||

Gotta give it to LK. Registered in March '06 and is our current post-quantity leader. Or do we just give him Rookie of the Year? But though he'd deny it, there's a lot of quality to those posts. He didn't get to 1,200+ by posting just emoticons or replies like "yeah!" "cool!" or "you suck!" And there was a period earlier this year where the board got kind of sluggish, and if I recall correctly, under his Hardin Smith guise, he injected a lot of life into it and got some of the slumbering posters like myself re-engaged. | ||

Oh pshaw...you're too kind, Kurt. I have volume going for me but that's it. And, I attribute that volubility to the large bowl of crack I smoke every morning... Seriously though, and not to turn this into too big of a lovefest, but if you want quality and depth of knowledge, look for posts by K. Stephan. Other people (like LK) merely flit above the surface, like a mosquito over a lily pond, but once Kurt gets an artist on his radar screen, he, in essence, becomes an expert on them. | ||

Yes, a bit yucky getting, there. Why not some sort of collective award to all you oldies who keep this excellent site alive? And a special prize for the guy who made the Lou Reed-Ecstasy cover joke - my laugh was so appallingly abrupt and loud that my office colleages leapt squealing from their seats. | ||
