I'd love to hear this thing. They should call it "The Velvet Underground and Nico - the $155.401,00 Outtakes." Lou Reed must find this unspeakably funny. His barrel scapings mined for gold. Does Lou make $150,000 in a year? |

They want nearly £80,000!!!!!!!!!!! Jesus, must be for FANS only, I wouldn't pay that, even if I had the money, I'd pay it for John Lennon's toenail clippings though! |

Damn! What an amazing coincidence! I happen to have an old yellowing envelope with Lennon's toenail clippings. |

Is there some sort of scale involved, Spence? Would you buy toenail clippings from other artists you like, but not as much, for lesser amounts? Say, I dunno, Forster's, for...$1,000? Maybe Vickers' for $125? Tim Mustafa's for $5? And Kev, how much you would you pay for MES'? |

Um, I'd probably pay a tidy sum for some used clothing of Kate Bush's, like...no, stop, stop, stop! (slapping myself mentally) |

Not a huge surprise. The fair market value of that thing is probably only a few hundred dollars. |

The music on that acetate is amazing - Nico without the overblown echo, the extended European Son, the alternate mixes and takes are simply mind-blowing. Such a shame the VU estate and Universal had such a falling out, otherwise these tracks would have undoubtedly appeared on the 2CD set of VU & Nico. Like I've said, the acetate is AMAZING and a must hear. |

Someone on this board (won't say who in case he doesn't want to get credit/blame) sent me a link to a music blog that had MP3s of the VU acetate. Unfortunately, I forgot to bookmark the page, so I don't have the URL now. If that kind soul wants to step forward with the link, this is his cue... |

I haven't listened to it all the way through on decent speakers, to be honest. On some tracks, the beginning sounded so similar to the album version that I assumed there was no significant difference. Obviously, I was wrong. The version of "Waiting for the Man" is very different--more like a live take, and not as good. |

Listening to it now. It's great, it really is. A bit scratchy, and I wouldn't pay $100,000 for it, but great. |

Wow, this is real find. I'm floored. It is indeed scratchy, but holy cow... How 'bout that for a considered, measured critical assessment? |

Damn! I need more time to listen to the vastly expanded "European Son" than I have now but I LOVE "Waiting for the Man." |
