Spence, you're going to have to jump into that Audi and zoom up to Scotland and find out what's wrong. He's never been off the board this long. This isn't the time for his trip to Cairns, is it?

Rumor has it he's been locked away teaching himself drums so he can make a run at that Crowded House job.

Kurt mentioned something about vacationing this week in the Bay Area - SF, Marin, Monterey, etc...good for him, the lucky dog - that's a beautiful area...

Hi gang--I kidnapped Kevin and am holding him in an undisclosed location, forcing him to listen to Crowded House, Steely Dan, the Beatles, and 16LL 24 hours a day. When he finally yields to their charms after this intensive brainwashing program, he will be released to freedom. :-)

Seriously, how many of you have seen "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles"? I'm having that kind of trip. My car and I parted ways about 450 miles ago and I got to my destination by rental car. I may have to take a train home after returning it to its home base. Kind of a crappy vacation...

Well, back to reading what you've all been talking about the past week.

Aw man! Sorry to hear about your road difficulties, Kurt. That sucks...hope it hasn't completely marred your trip. Good luck making it back, etc.

I think they used a similar method (to what you're using on the Kev) to "cure" Pastor Ted. Kev should be quite delightful by the time you're done with him.

Ah...back to "the Departed".

Safe trip home, Kurt! And be gentle with Kev. If he starts sprinkling his posts with Tim Finn quotes, things are gonna get ugly around here.

Kurt, sorry for you road misadventures. When I moved out to California in 1971 to live for 2 years with my aunt, uncle and cousins Vickie and Lynnie, I went by Amtrak from Detroit to Denver with my aunt and V&L. Then we had to take a terrible bus ride from Denver to Ogden, Utah as Amtrak was on strike. Then back on a train from Ogden to Sacramento. I also had a very bad thing that happened to me at 2AM on the train ride east of Denver that I am not sure I should discuss here.

Traveling can be a bitch. Particularly, getting home. Due to the "efficiency" of our airlines, I've been stuck several times, unable to get home. In fact, just this last time I went to La. over the holidays, I missed the connecting flight (through no fault of my own) and got stuck in Vegas and had to spend the night there. I know this probably doesn't garner much sympathy, but I was way too tired to have fun and plus, it was f-ing freezing. Thinking I'd be safely deposited back in sunny CA, I was wearing flip-flops, though I at least had a fleece pullover thingie with me. Luckily, I found a hooker to warm up my feet. (Kidding...)

That sounds like an interesting (and edgy) story, Michael.

LK, It was not only edgy, but very scary for me. I probably shouldn't have brought this up in the first place, but I have been charged full of energy due to some changes I am undergoing in diet, exercise, attitude, etc. and I have been opening up to friends a lot more. I felt I needed to recognise the goodness within, so I have purging a lot of the bad as a result.

Michael, forgive me if it sounded like I was prying, or making light of what sounds like a very serious incident.

And, good for you for making positive changes in your life.

In line with your being more open, a lot of the spiritual disciplines, and just plain mentally healthy ways of living, call for absolute truthfulness in everything you do. I admire that and think it's a great goal, I just have a hard time with it and find it daunting.

The most I can manage most days is, as Colbert puts it, "truthiness"...

Is it me, or is it tough to picture Kev "on his jollys"?

Unless by "jollys" you mean "setting fire to the easy-listening section at the Virgin Megastore."

Yeah, know what you mean.
Imagine if one of his children came back with a Coldplay or James Morrison CD.

Maybe this IS when he was going to Cairns. That's enough to distract him. Somehow I thought that was later though. I wonder if he's still going to be coming to the midwest in March?

I hope Kurt is salvaging his vacation. I don't know what it's been like up in NoCal, but down here it's been very nice this week.

LK, you hit the nail on the head when you stated
"and just plain mentally healthy ways of living, call for absolute truthfulness in everything you do". That's the journey I am on and IT IS DAUNTING!I have also been doing vinyasa yoga at night, which is tying breath with movement, to help me find my true spirit. Namaste.

Good luck with that, Michael.

It's like they say, usually about government: sunlight is the best disinfectant.

Too bad the Bush administration never learned that lesson.
