Today, the 12th of Feb, let's remember him. Sydney radio (ABC702) played "Finding You" this morning with some kind words to his memory. Still brings a lump to the throat and a tear to the eye ....

Didn't know today was his birthday. True it makes me sad. I'll play some of his music today to remember him.

A toast to the unforgettable Grant McLennan. Let us recall 'the schoolboy coming home', and sing along as today we invite him, as it were, to be beside us 'not in a dream but in a song'.

Funny, it's also Lincoln's birthday.

Happy Birthday, Grant and Abe!

Not only that, but Charles Darwin's b-day was yesterday, too. A pretty auspicious day all around.

I meant to post, too, that it was the anniversary of Dick Cheney shooting that old guy in the face...

Oops - it was actually on the 11th that that happened...confusing, since the Dickinator didn't report it when it actually happened...

I wonder what happened to poor ole Harry Whittington, if he ever healed up, etc...Think he got many calls from Cheney, checking on him, after about the first, say, two weeks? I wouldn't bet the farm on it!

I have written a poem about Grant and the importance of his and the band's music to me. Quite personal but thought someone might want to read it?

Speaking of birthdays, Happy (belated) Birthday Grant!! I proudly wore a McLennan t-shirt the day after at the Midlake concert. I should have some pics shortly that I will post.

My dad turned 78 on the 19th. Also the birthday of the big band leader Stan Kenton, who's band used to include the great 1940-1960's jazz/pop divas Anita O'Day and then after she left the fabulous June Christy. I bet I have 20 June Christy cd's, her voice while not perfect like Sarah's or Ella's, always reached me somehow.
