Okay, the title of this thread is taken from a great documentary about Chicago's Maxwell Street, but the theme is apropos. For all you music recording geeks in the UK and EU: We have a nifty little magazine here in the States called Tape Op, which is published by Larry Crane of Portland, OR-based Jackpot studios, who you may know as the engineer on TFORW. It's a free publication, very informative, and it's now available - also for free - overseas. Go to http://www.tapeop.com to sign up for a subscription. I've subscribed for years and can vouch for the fact you don't get on some crazy mailing list or any such thing. It's just a cool, interesting publication for DIY recording folks, and even those who are just interested in how music gets made. I'm thinking specifically of Spence here, but I bet a lot of the folks on this board would get something out of it. |
