Has the Bush administration finally, irrevocably screwed the pooch? This scandal over the 8 fired US Attorneys really seems to have legs...I'd love to see Karl Rove's fat arse up there on the witness stand... |

This is news just in from the world of New Wave... Subject: FIRE ENGINES ON TOTP2 ON SAT 24th MARCH07 FIRE ENGINES ON TOTP2 SAT 24th MARCH 2007 How queer! The FIRE ENGINES appear on TOTP2 on Sat, 24th March07. It's a 1981 performance of their swansong single, "Big Gold Dream", from a long forgotten arts & culture BBC2 TV show called Riverside. FIRE ENGINES' Codex Communications archives still available on the mighty DOMINO Records release, "Codex:Teenage Premonition". It's a social documentary of Edinburgh circa 1979-81, if you dig yr Turn to be Totale, it's for you. FIRE ENGINES' Pop Aural catalogue has been licensed by Fast Product to Acute Records. Tracks featured on singles (Candyskin, Meat Whiplash, Get Up & Use Me, Big Gold Dream, etc), along with the group's albumette, "Lubricate Your Living Room", are to be lavishly packaged on a new compilation entitled "HUNGRY BEAT". This is the first time the material has been available for 15 years. TOTP2 starts at 16.35 on BBC2. GET UP!!!!!! |

Heard just a snippet of Bush's recent speech on the matter and was greatly cheered..."boy, I tell ya, if those Democrats start getting partisan and subpoenaing my people...whoa boy, I don't know what I'm gonna do, but it's gonna be something..." Forget the fact that it's SOP...by god, you're questioning his honesty? Why do you hate America so much? |

If you haven't seen it yet, the Huffington Post has a classic "Daily Show" bit on the subject. As usual, Stewart sums it up for me. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2007/03/22 /daily-show-on-subpoenas-_n_44017.html |

Yeah, I saw that - you gotta love it: "retain the right to lie". That's what it amounts to and it does point up one of the obvious logical hitches in the White House's stance - if the advisors are going to be so danged truthful, why not allow transcripts, at the least? |

In the same general vein: Tom Tomorrow's cartoons can get a little simplistic at times, but I do love the cheap shots taken in this recent one: workingforchange.com/comic.cfm?itemid=22 018 |
