was robert's hair ever grey (or silver) as he was quoted as requesting back in 87? in the tallulah clips and also in the rock arena set it looks decidedly blonde. just a thought anyway.....i think it would've been great! |

Any theories on why Rob felt the need to change his appearance so dramatically and so often ? Roddy used to do that too, a new LP a new look ! |

My wife and I saw the band perform live several times in the 1980's ( in Edinburgh and Glasgow ) and Robert's hair was a dazzling grey/silver on at least one occasion. I cannot remember which show but my wife assures me that it was at a gig in Edinburgh. We only saw them once in Edinburgh and that was at a club situated above an Ice Rink/Roller Skating Rink somewhere up off Lothian Road. I suspect it may have been the Hoochie Coochie Club which would make it August, 1984, April,1985 or April, 1987. |

It was 1987 Hugh, the Tallulah tour. They were supported by Lowlife, a band with guys I know from my hometown. One of them became my brother in law 2 years later. |

I remember reading an interview at the time. Robert had spent hours and hours in the hairdressers as they tried to get his hair the perfect colour, but I think he still didn't feel he'd achieved that perfect Blake Carrington look. I saw them play early May 87 at Warwick University (with Lowlife and Friends Of The Family)and met up with them after, Robert's hair was definitely blonde and he had these amazing red trousers (with buttons up the side). |

Its that thing actually, where you see your fave group's pic in the press, in those days, pics of group's were either culled from the publication's photo library archive and reused everywhere buy lazy picture editors, or you had an up-to-date photo from a pre album session. I remember at the time of as Kev says '87 tallulah a colour pic of RF. It was definately Blonde. And I saw them live, and Robert came walking off the stage during a somng and I was in front of him, he sang wholsi at one point resting his hand on my shoulder and looking around atthe audience. It was blonde for sure. Anyway, I think before the days of Myspace and web pages where you could see regular updates of your heroe's / heroine's you got used to carrying a picture of your hero in your head for years, rather than seeing how they may change their look on a day to day basis. Yet, actually like everyone of us, they would change their look style or hair wnehvere it suted them, but this public persona is built up, bit like the fact that although you may love a group's song, it only lasts for 3 mins, and its not always representative of their entire body of work, they have probably written a million other tunes or indeed moved on from that 3 min wonder, yet w carry this around with us all our lives, or for a very long time. That's pretty magic isn't it!? Erm, Christ knows what I am writing here but it makes sense to mje even tho I am struggling to articulate it on the Mac.! |

Matthew, I was at the Warwick Uni gig, and I think I've mentioned the trousers on here before - just the best trousers ever. My girlfriend at the time was at Warwick Uni, which was handy. It was the second time I'd seen them - the first was Glastonbury (84?). I've also got some B&W pics of the Warwick gig; well, negatives. I must get a contact sheet made and see if they're any good... |

I had some great colour photos of the band and Lowlife during and after that gig but they got lost a couple of moves back! It was an SU members only gig and I had to blag my way in (I was only 16) by buying a girl a couple of pints of cider. It was the cheapest but undoubtedly one of the best gigs I've been to. Someone there videoed it, I remember them asking Robert to sign the tape after the gig. It would be good to see some pics of it again Simon....good luck!!! |

I remember seeing Robert in the audience of a really strange Felt gig which was in a lecture theatre at the London School of Economics. I say “strange” because the audience was seated in those lecture theatre chairs with a desk in front! Weird atmosphere. Anyway, I saw Robert in the lobby there and he was sporting the "Blake Carrington" look - wearing a suit and having pure grey hair. He really looked like a distinguished gentleman and it took me a minute to recognise him. It was around the time he mentioned it in an interview and I'm guessing it was autumn 86 or spring 87? I saw a few Go-Betweens gigs in that period and don’t recall him ever having grey hair on stage. That's about all I remember of the gig - the seats and Robert Forster! Felt weren't the greatest live band! |
