Found this via Idolator: http://nargothebortsdeviantsubculture.bl ogspot.com/ Basically, it's a live-music post blog. And the guy has some stuff I think would appeal to y'all (although no GBs). Rockpile, Zevon, T. Heads, Costello, etc. I'm not a huge bootleg fan, but the Television tracks that Idolator posted made a believer out of me. Spence, man, the version of Marquee Moon must be heard to be believed. In fact, the whole show sounds amazing. |

I don't have an account with the hosting company the blogger uses, LK, so I can only download stuff in dribs and drabs. If you come across a particularly good show, lemme know (excluding, natch, anything by Steve Miller). That Television boot rocks. Next up: Costello. |

Rob, like you I don't have an acct. with the host co. (I'm opposed to that, actually - downloading is supposed to be free. What's this paying money shit?), and don't really have the patience, so I haven't downloaded much from this tremendous site. However, I was able to download and burn the EC live at Winterland in '78. And, it is fantastic. The sound isn't exactly pristine, but the performances are of the rip-roaring, blistering variety, as was typical of Elvis in that era. He, and the Attractions, sound as though they have the proverbial hellhound on their trail. I don't know if I have the perseverance to grab all of the rest of the stuff posted, but sweet fancy Moses, this guy has some great stuff. Now, if we could only get him interested in the GBs... ps - Rob, I'm way too lazy to find the thread you mentioned them on, but I meant to ax you about feta stuffed burgers. That caught my fancy - do you have recipe and how do you serve them? The ordinary way, with mustard and ketchup, etc., or tahini or Grecian sauce, something along those lines? |

Yeah, it's a killer site, LK. Like you, I just wish it wasn't so hard to download stuff from it. I grabbed Television and an old Rockpile, both of which are great, but the way those hosting sites work, you either pony up or be very patient. The feta burgers are really easy, LK. I found the recipe in a magazine. Basically, you mix a couple pounds of ground beef with a standard package of feta (one of those 8 oz. thingys would do fine; I added more 'cause cheese = crack for me), add some oregano and some salt and pepper, mix it up with your hands and form it into patties. It was really good, although my dad likes his burgers cooked as if they'd only heard a rumor a flame was nearby, so I don't know if the feta in his even melted. Speaking of melted, I came home Sunday to discover that, over the weekend, my fridge died and I didn't notice. I lost a ton of food, as well as my beloved and carefully tended condiment collection. On the up side, my old fridge used about as much power to do its job as the space shuttle, so I'm expecting the new one will prove a little more thrify. But, man, all the exotic Asian sauces and Indian curry pastes. Looks like I'm gonna have to hit the neighborhood stores around town to replenish the stocks... |
