I couldn't go to a MBV gig now, Jeesus, I can't see why anyone would want to tobe perfectly honest. I must be getting old!
No, yes, I am gettiing old, but I can't see the attraction. Mind you I suppose it will be safe, a nice smoke free warm environment somewhere, where we can all sit down on our furry pillows and watch fatty Shileds send out sonic statements of angst like he did 20 years ago, (not!) only this time with brand new polished equipment (no battered Fender Jags in sight!!). Nothing like it was 20 yeasr a go when I saw them and there were bodies and beer flying through the smoke fuelled air, and the noise was louder than 20 new airbus Jumbo's at full throttle...and a pint of mild was 50 p.

Did we all drink mild back then Spence, or was it that it was cheep. I remember everyone getting excited ( well a small number anyway) the pipes for the beer in the SU had been cleaned out and the Mild would be something to be rejoiced.50p it was never that cheep in London 75p probably

More likely to drink mildly now. The MBV live experience was always an endurance test.

Spence, I hope your wrong. The Gang of Four show I saw two years was one of the best shows I have attended, so I'm holding out hope for MBV.

I'd love to see Slowdive and The Pale Saints get back together as well!

I never got to see MBV first time around, so I'm hoping it happens. While I'm not quite ready for a furry pillow, I'm heading in that direction!

Went to see Wilt in Dublin 2 years ago, when they played a handful of "one-off" shows (ok, six or seven-off). I loved a good mosh, back in the day, but I did feel just a little nervous up the front, and hardly let go of the barrier all night!

My poison of choice used to be Champagne Cider with a shot of vodka in, drinking in the house before hitting the pub. The cheapest of cheap, but it did the trick! I'm amazed I have any stomach lining left, really!!

Catherine, Champagne Cider reminds me of the concoction called Black Velvet that we used to drink in a pub in the east end of Glasgow (called The Straw House) before going to watch Celtic play. It was a half pint of Guinness, topped up with a half pint of Cider. Bloody rocket fuel!!

Yeah, I've been there (the bottom of a Black Velvet glass, not the East end of Glasgow!) Dangerous. VERY dangerous!

That must be the ingeniously named Pomagne. The kind of 'vino' you'd get as prizes at funfairs. I've dented many a ceiling popping those open.

Our brand of choice was Vervier. I'm pretty certain it was made by Bulmers (Magners in UK). Denting the ceiling was half the fun!

Magners cider, now youre talking. I'm not a great advocate of ice in either beer or cider, but this stuff with ice is just about perfect. Sounds like we should be resurrecting the "What are you drinking?" thread :-)

I wouldn't mind, but the last alcoholic drink I had, was in Brisbane a month ago! I was out last night, had a few pints, but they were all non-alcoholic. A combination of iving in the countryside, and expensive taxi fares have led me to be sensible before my time!!

Padraig, I wasnt there because the tickets went on sale while I was in Australia. However, I watched it on TV, talk about a rollercoaster ride. Missed penalties, sendings off, chances galore, 100 Mile an hour stuff. Celtic just about shaded it and justice was done, although a penalty shootout is just a lottery really. As Gordon Strachan said, the Russians were as good as anything Celtic played in the Champions league last year, including Man Utd and AC Milan. The draw for the group stages takes place at 5pm UK time today, I would love to draw Real Madrid, Lyon, Valencia - teams like that. But really there are no weak teams left now, apart from one or two in Pot 4 (including Rangers :-) )
