Anyone else going to see him at Dingwalls on Sunday? I heard a very moving interview with him on the radio the other week and felt I wanted to go to show support. Not quite sure what to expect. |

If I lived closer I'd go. its really really great to see the Postcardmeister back in to his life, and the music business. I must admit i'm not that fond of his solo stuff, but I guess he'd be great live, i saw him live many times solo over the years. I saw hium on his first ever comeback gig at The Bloomsbury Theatre in 1986. The place was rammed to the rafters with every star imaginable, and I met em all! from Paul Quinn, to Orange Juicers, to Alan Horne, to Dennis Bovvell, to Liz Fraser and Robin Guthrie, you name it! Oh, the good ol days. |

Hey Spence, I was at that Bloomsbury gig too! Still have a mighty fine poster from it (with the pic from 'Don't Shilly Shally'?) I would love to be there to see him tread the boards again and show support. He is a genuine one-off. I still can recall the sheer enjoyment from a couple of OJ shows. |

Andrew really? It was a great evening. God I was so young! I seem to remember the poster, do you remember the Glasgae heckler Ed planted up in the balcony!? That was fun. i loved it, from havng a drink with the Cocteau's to going backstage and passing Ed a towel to dry himself, it was a stormin eve for a young lad I can tell ye! Stuff dreams are amde of. i mean then, Ed was my generation's Lou Reed, Malcolm was Sterling Morrison, etc etc. They were my heroes. I was quite embarressed at first seing Ed, as I modelled myself on him, and had a strong eye for detail. So everything from the make of check shirt to the same style of brogue shoes was exact, must 've scared the shite out of him!. Ed's made of strong stuff, mind you he must've been drinking the stuff made from girders so its no surprise! |

Andrew, It was great. Not a dry eye in the house when he came on then launched into Falling and Laughing and Poor Old Soul. The new album sounded a lot better live, and then wrapped up with Blue Boy, which sounded fantastic (Orange Juice never could play it if I remember correctly- this was note perfect). A very, very emotional night but the performance of both Edwyn and the band (including Roddy Frame) was spot on too. I thought might see Robert Forster there but did not spot him, but it was Edwyn's night and one I'll long remember |

More info here http://www.bbc.co.uk/electricproms/2007/ artists/edwyncollins/ and I'm sure they said the concert would be available on line from 6pm tonight. Support by Sam Isaac was pretty good too - worth looking out for. |

Highlights on BBC website until 4th November. Shame Edwyn's stage entry is not on there or Falling and Laughing but Blue Boy sounds terrific- now there is a an all time classic. http://www.bbc.co.uk/electricproms/ |
