Dear Irish fans The Go-Betweens albums are released on the Friday after the Monday release date in England, Scotland and Wales. This is a standard set-up that has been in place with our distributors Vital for eons and that we are powerless to change. It would be great if these albums could come out at the same time everywhere in the world but sadly that is just not always feasble. We hope the delay is not to painful and that the results will be worth the extra wait. Thanks for the information Alex. I apologise for my outburst on an earlier thread. It is obvious that a huge amount of effort has gone into the reissues and the attention to detail is praiseworthy indeed. | ||

There's the real reasom the bonus tracks are on a separate disc. More profit. €24 is a ridiculous price to have to pay for what were previously mid-price albums. And being a niche market, the price won't even be reduced in the future. | ||

Come on, it's an artistic issue surely. Did no-one here ever get the Rykodisc reissues of the Bowie albums a few years back where you went slamming from the perfect ending of an album you knew and loved into some grotesque 90's remix of the hit single? I love the extra tracks being on a separate disc and I got them for £9.99 each at amazon.co.uk which I thought was a pretty good deal. | ||

And then a few years later Bowie 'remastered' them and re-released them again, this time without the extra material but at an even higher price! I think £9.99 at Amazon.co.uk is ok for a 2 disk set. Niddler, I think your argument is with HMV and Tower who've been over charging Irish consumers for years. I bought 'Friends of Rachel Worth' in Tower for 24 euro four years ago. I vowed never to buy there again and I've generally got good value since buying online from Amazon.co.uk, or direct from records companies like domino records or beggars banquet. Oh, I agree entirely with nlgbbbblth - Road Records on Fade Street in Dublin is nearly always better value than HMV/Tower and a friendly, pleasant place to browse too. | ||

I think I have griped here before about the CD reissue of Liberty Belle that was spoiled by the addition of two b-sides at the end. That is a rare case I would say of an album with a very definite beginning and end that didn't need tacked-on tracks that weren't good enough the first time around. Amazon have a lot of advantages but if you want to aid and assist the struggling artist and/or the struggling record company or in the case of David Bowie, his shareholders, it is often a better policy to buy through the company. | ||

It is always good to support an independant store and Road Records is definitely a good place to buy. I get a lot of stuff through their website www.roadrecs.com cos it's so much cheaper than a lot of places here in England and even their postage costs are a fraction of HMV and Amazon. |
