I thought he was a great actor, even when working with average or bad scripts. I feel very sorry for his two-year-old daughter.

An article I wrote about his fairly tortured relationship with his home country is in today's Irish Times. It's in the news features section if you're looking for it.

Joins James Dean, River Phoenix and others who died way before their time. There's always a chance though that River and Heath could have given up the edgy indie movie roles over time and become just another Nicolas Cage, going only for the big money roles regardless of script quality. What the hell happened to you Nick?

and another child to grow up with a father that's since bailed on them. he's served his home country a little too well! i really quite liked the guy, but he was always pretty messed up and it seemed like for every great thing he did there were always at least two other "bizarre tit" incidents to accompany them. ie. every interview or public appearance following the release of brokeback mountain.
