Yes, seasons greetings to one and all. I am in the final half hour of my nightshift this fine Saturday morning and then I am on holiday till 31st December.
So its home for 7am, 4 hours sleep and then a trip to Glasgow to watch the mighty Glasgow Celtic play Hibernian.

Personally I'm guessing/hoping that LK's taking a break from the board because he's found the woman of his dreams...

Wishing you all health & happiness in 2008...

BTW Santa brought me the BBC "Who do you think you are ?" genealogy software and have just found out my ancestors emmigrated from Liverpool to Wisconsin in 1846 !

So I have been singing the following from "Diamonds on my windshield" by Tom Waits...

"A Wisconsin hiker with a cueball head is wishing he was home in a Wisconsin bed, there's 15 feet of snow in the east and it's colder than a well diggers ass..."

Happy New Year everyone!

I woke up to find over a foot of snow on the ground. It took me 2 hours to shovel all the snow from the walk and driveway.

45 minutes drive north of Detroit. The snow was just below my knee. I had a bowl of Scotlands best, Mornflake Porridge Oats with blueberries, and a glass of pomegranite juice and some tea and off I went a shoveling!

Ah, brings back childhood memories it does. I grew up in Wisconsin and Illinois. I like where I am now (Washington), though I wouldn't mind just a bit more snow...ours is piddling in comparison.

It appears that my ancestor, Robert Gorst, settled a place there and it's called Gorstville !

Places called Dane County and Arena are also cropping up but Gorstville gives me the chance to switch from Tom Waits to REM...

"Don't go back to Gorstvi-ille" ! Is now ringing round my head...

Seems that Robert Gorst founded the British Temperence Emmigration Society, I needed a stiff drink when that little fact spilled out I can tell you !

Will be on Google earth all day now...
