My Girl - The Temptations. Written and produced by Smokey. Their first number 1 and still a classic! And I've always liked The Beat's version of 'Tears of a Clown'. | ||

"No one can quite sing like Smokey, Smokey Robinson". Tom Tom Club - Genius Of Love "When Smokey sings - I hear violins." "When Smokey sings - I forget everything." ABC - When Smokey Sings. I think that just about covers it in regards to who was the best to come out of Motown. As much as I liked Marvin, The Four Tops, Supremes, etc, Smokey was the best singer. As for my favorites: Old Smoke - "Tracks of My Tears." New Smoke - "Cruisin'" Hard to imagine though how great Otis Redding would have become had he not died so young. | ||
