This disc arrived the other day after I ordered it through gemm.com from a shop in Paris. I've had the mp3s from this disc for a long time but it was lovely to get it on the original CD release (which came free with French music magazine Inrockuptibles in 1996). It was quite cheap considering what it is and came within days from Paris. It features eight Lovers Lane demos plus the studio versions of Streets Of Your Town, The Clarke Sisters and You've Never Lived. It had been so long since I'd heard the latter I had to check the sleeve! What a brilliant, somewhat unheralded, song. |

Money for old rope, I'd say. The 16 Lovers Lane Acoustic Demos CD isn't exactly "news" on this board. I've seen some on ebay with the magazine to answer your question Donat. |

I bought mine very recently too (disc only) through www.priceminister.com - like a French version of Amazon's marketplace. The only one I could find in the UK cost 25UKP. Through Priceminister I paid 4 euros (plus 11 postage! to the UK), which is about 11UKP total (would have been cheaper a while back before the rise of the euro against the pound). There are more on there today from around four and a half euros. |

4 € makes 3 GBP. Famous postage Simon! I bought two copies of the magazine for nearly nothing directly from the Inrocks website three years ago. In the last months, I've tried to know if there was some more left but nobody has answered me. It's a very interesting record (they should have joined it with the expanded edition of 16LL) Here is the magazine : http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/7475/ gobsjb9.jpg |

I happened to be in France when it hit the news-stand, so I managed to grab the magazine. The article is quite interesting. The French journalists that work for Les Inrocks have a deep respect for Australian and New Zealand music and it shows in their writing. I'm surprised how many people have the CD - it can only be a good thing. The demos are great, especially for the alternate lyrics on Grant's tunes. |

Has anyone else here got the Neu Holland: Go-Betweens, Robert Forster, Grant McLennan And Me disc from Les Inrockuptibles. That seems to be a lot rarer. There's nothing on there that isn't available elsewhere unlike the 16LL demos. So it's for degenerate collectors only. |

The mag didn't come with it Donat. Not being a French speaker it would only have been of use to me for the pretty pictures anyway! |

Didn't get as far as the bed ... woke up on the couch with a bag still strapped around my shoulder. Easter Holidays beckon! Happy Easter everyone! I am a believer! |

Unicum - That sounds nasty. 10cc a measure, am I right? |

Unicum is gross, had a lot of it in Budapest years ago, I'd take a bottle of Buckfast anyaday instead of Unicum. |
