I thimk we stalled at '94. April seems empty without one.

'95 was pretty good if you don't mind post-Brit-Pop/Trip-Hop/Shit-Pop burn out.

1. Babybird – Bad Shave

2. Black Grape - It's Great When You're Straight, Yeah

3. Leftfield - Leftism

4. Babybird – I Was Born A Man

5. Babybird – Fatherhood

6. Babybird – The Happiest Man Alive

7. Chemical Brothers – Exit Planet Dust

8. Pulp – Different Class

9. Bjork – Post

10. The Cardigans - Life

11. Electrafixion - Burned

12. The Verve - A Northern Soul

The Cardigans - Life (This record was like a breath of fresh air in a decade overrun by bland corporate alternative)

Stereolab - Amorphous Body Study Center (I know it's technically an EP, but it's also one of their best releases, so get off my back!)

Air Miami - Me, Me, Me

The Fall - Cerebral Caustic (I saw this as a return to form, playing with more energy than they had in years. Brix's return breathed new life into the band).

Magnetic Fields - Get Lost

Sonic Youth - Washing Machine (Another return to form. I haven't listened to this in eons, but at the time I thought was pretty solid, and definitely the best thing they'd done since Daydream Nation *by far*).

And that's all I've got...

Jerry, do you really like the Electrafixion album? I saw em live, they were terrible. A mistake.

Air Miami Jeff, now there's an image to conjur with, their artwork looked great, never heard em though. Anygood?

'95, jeez, qwas out drinking loads, music wise, it was piss poor time for me, though I was enjoying hanging out with me mates in Strangelove at this time, they were one of the best live ands around..

Jerry u were obvioulsy a big Baby Bird fan, a mate of mine was an obsessive. The output of BB was phenominal, a release every month almost!

Supergrass - I should Coco. Caught by the fuzz, was my fave song of thatyear.

teenage fanclub - Grand Prix. Genius jangle.

Tindersticks - tindersticks (saw em live at this time) they were great.

Radiohead The Bends

Malcolm Ross - Low Shot. Mr Vickers was on that album, dead good.

Andreas, yes! Where were you when I needed you on the other 1990s best of threads? I brought them up several times in said threads, only to be met with the virtual equivalent of blank stares. I liked Unrest quite a bit back then, but I don't listen to them so much anymore. Imperial f.f.r.r. is still my favorite of theirs.

The Air Miami record was great, too. Spence, they were like a more new wave/pop Unrest, which is no surprise given that Air Miami was basically Unrest minus the drummer. Some songs were blissfully melodic and breezy, others kind of intense and manic. I still have the LP, I'll have to pull it out tonight.

Ok, of the 1995 things that my computer reminds me I have the following are ones I'd recommend, in alpha order:

Apartments--Life Full of Farewells
Ashtray Boy -- Candypants Beach
The Bats -- Couchmaster
Vic Chesnutt -- Is the Actor Happy? My only gripe is with the heavy-handed electric guitar.
Richard Davies -- There's Never Been a Crowd Like This. This album is a true understated classic.
Ron Sexsmith -- eponymous album
Dusty Springfield -- A Very Fine Love. Her last album and a good deal better than most of what she had done over the previous 20 years.

And that's it for me.

Oh, Shack's Waterpistol. I knew I'd left something out!

Not my favorite post-Paleys records, but it does contain several fine songs.

I don't know Spence, in retrospect Electrafixion's Burned is a bit heavy rock/psychedelia. Not an entirely bad thing of course but McCulloch's voice with Sergeant playing out of his skin is a revelation. Probably best heard on the Zephyr EP, in short bursts.

With regard Babybird once big Stephen gets his hooks in you it's difficult to get them out again.

I didn't buy too many albums during the 1995-1997 period, as I was heavily into open track events and driving schools on road racing courses with my much modified Mustang GT. It's still in my gargage and I hope to get it back on the road this year, but only if they start to fix all those darn potholes on Michigan's roads. The suspension is so stiff on my Mustang that I can lift three wheels off the ground when I jack the car up!

Spence, It's a 1986 Mustang GT with all the 1986 Saleen Mustang add on's, side skirts, front air dam, rear wing, rear valance. It has a fiberglass cowl hood with a 3" rise. It has the 1986 Mustang SVO "C" pillar sails. It's monochromed painted the 1994-95 Mustang bright metalic blue. The interior has a full roll cage. The carpet is still intact, but all the padding and insolation underneath is gone for weight savings. The battery is in a plastic case in the right rear hatch area for better weight distribution. It has tons of suspension mods and has been lowered to where I can barely get a finger between the top of the tire and the bottom of the fender on all four corners. I installed the updated 1994 Mustang Cobra brakes 13" fronts and 11" rears. I have brake ducts in back of the front air dam and 6" round hoses routed to the back of the front rotors to keep the brakes cooler. The engine stock was 200 HP and 302 cubic inches, it's now a 306 pushing about 360 horse power. I've had it up to 160 or so on the front stretch at the high banked 2 mile Michigan International Speedway at a BMW Driver School event. My favorite track was the 2.5 mile Mid Ohio road course. Lots of tricky turns, elevation changes, off camber corners and some real fast sections as well. A total blast to drive when my 'stang was set up in race trim with sticky race tires.

It probably weights about 3200 lbs. If I really wanted to make it a true race car not streetable I could take another 250 lbs off it. The new Mustangs GT's are porkers, close to 3800 lbs.

I had a 1970 Mustang Mach 1 with 351 Cleveland and a 4 speed back in the 70's. That was a great engine that rev'd like the dickens and pulled all the way up to 7000 RPM's with great power. Interestingly, the tooling to make the 351C's ended up in the the land of OZ in the mid 70's, where it was used to pump out 351's for all the lucky Aussies!

Wowwwwwwww!!

Cheers for the info Michael, Jeez you know your stuff. Sounds gorgeous. 360bhp!!!!! and looking that cool!!!

Yeah I know the Ozone will suffer but I'd sure have loved to have raced along Mid Ohio!!

Do they still make 351's in OZ? I often hear about tooling going overseas like her from UK, but well below par compared to what you are on abot, like the magnificent (not!) Morris Ital tooling, was shipped to India in the mid 80's, a stunning piece of machinery i think you'll agree!! http://www.austin-rover.co.uk/index.htm? ado28italf.htm
