I DO have a record player, and I've been looking for Fireboy, and Calling From a Country Phone on LP for years. Lemme know if those two are ever up... |

Bryce, in the 13 years or so that I've been into the Go-Betweens, I have *never*, and I mean *never* seen copies of Fireboy and Calling From a Country Phone on vinyl. Not in person, not on-line. And this is from an avid vinyl collector who has to have every Go-Betweens related release on vinyl. |

Two years ago, I saw Calling From a Country Phone on vinyl (on Beggars Banquet) on Ebay, but I missed the fricking deadline for the bid (something that always happens to me on Ebay). It went for 8 bucks too. I found Warm Nights on vinyl in Brooklyn for 4 bucks a couple of months ago. I also, have never seen a Fireboy LP anywhere. I have only heard that exists through this chat room, but I've never found proof elsewhere. Personally, I think "they" should release In Your Bright Ray, and Horsebreaker Star on vinyl, as well a re-release the rest of them. |

I remember buying Warm Nights new on vinyl. It was already in a cut-out bin a few months after release. |

This was listed about a year or maybe more ago(Metal and Shells) and didn't sell. I remember because I was on holidays when the auction ended and forgot to bid. I contacted the seller to see if they would sell it privately. We agreed a price and I paid by paypal. Months later it never arrived but the seller claimed to have posted it. Numerous emails followed. In fairness the seller then refunded me. I'm sure it's the same seller and I also remember the little piece cut out of the sleeve corner. Take from that what you want. |

People should be shot for clipping sleeves like that! That's reason 'nuff not to purchase, and if he is who you say he is, then `I'd wait. I reckon you can get this from a reputable second hand store if you search Google. |

I used to have two Metals and Shells (without cut out), but in the end sold one to a friend (face to face). A nice compilation from two very fine albums. |

I bought it on cassette in Boston in 1989. Wish I still had it. |

Because this is the thread where the vinyl lovers seem to congregate I thought I'd do this post here. My vinyl copy of Robert Forster's new LP "The Evangelist" arrived in Brooklyn today from Germany from the wonderfully rapid Tuition Records (THANK YOU TUITION!!!). And Yep-Roc, you need to get on the stick and put out the vinyl here in the U.S. Shame on you. For the occasion I went out and purchased a 2005 Agostina Pieri Rosso Di Montalcino. Those wine lovers out there will know what I'm talking about. T'was a special occasion indeed. I lit up some votives, placed on my Koss head phones and listened as if at an altar. For any naysayer out there, this album is a classic. I keep hearing complaints about "Let Your Light in, Babe" 'cause it sounds too much like other Forster songs. Forget all you have heard! The song is brilliant, especially in the full bodied analog sound. Other analog highlights are "Did She Overtake You" and "It Ain't Easy." If you are a vinyl lover like me, you will not be disappointed by Tuition's product. It simply jumps off the needle into your soul. Robert sounds so close and humane. Also, Adele's bass work and Audrey Riley's string arrangements really stand out, not to mention Robert's scorching guitar work. One comment. Many have complained about the cover art. Again, they have got it wrong. It looks amazing. My only complaint would be that the lettering on the vinyl version displays some "pixilation." However, since I don't even really know how to spell that word, I don't think it really matters. |

Nice words Bryce! Glad you liking the vinyl sounds. I wonder how it works, being recorded digitally, then playing analogue, I'd like to play them side by side. Though, my record deck is nowhere near as goood as my CD hifi, so I think you'd need to get a like for like to really compare. I agree, not a bad album track on it. The cover I agree is not bad, its probably pixilated on the vinyl as its a photoshop file at hi res for the cd and they have enlarged it without pumping up the resolution enough. Mind you I never produce artjust in photoshop esp for letering, best todo it in Quark or create a hi res pdf. |
