If you're in Ireland or a European capital buy it! Otherwise, the picture and story link is here http://www.ireland.com/theticket/index.h tml free to view for all! You will find out what the phrase Five Minutes From Hatesville means.

In case you're wondering, yes, I wrote it.

Hi Pádraig. That's a lovely piece! I ejoyed reading it and recalling those nights last July. And great to know that Robert will be playing Dublin: "I think it's going to be definitely in September".

Nice one Padraig, that article lifted me from the pits of depression I'm feeling this morning. Has word filtered to the other side of the world yet about last nights victory for Anti Football FC?
Anyway, reading it has prompted me to play The Evangelist and suddenly all is well with the world again.

Great piece, Padraig.

And Kevin, love the "Anti Football FC" comment, though I did think it ironic that the Italian coach criticised Rangers' tactics - Italy is, after all, the country that pioneered the delights of catenaccio, which was de rigueur for decades. (That said, I went in to a bookies for the first time before the last World Cup to put 5UKP on Argentina and the same on Italy. Money well spent...).

And back to the topic, I'm hoping that when I get home tonight that a signed copy of The Evangelist will be waiting for me. I haven't been home for a few days and it was sent last week...

Very nice, Padraig, the best article I've seen about the album (short of Robert's own!). Well done.

Kevin, I had the misforune of seeing Anti Football FC winning on TV. I would have been going for Fiorentina anyway, but particularly so as I will be in Florence in a few weeks.

Florence in a few weeks? Call me jealous.

That was a wonderful article, Padraig. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Jeff (and everyone).

Yes, going to a family wedding in Tuscany ('cos we all so rich - not). My Irish first cousin is marrying an Englishman in Italy and we're travelling there from Australia. Gotta love globalisation (not so much the resulting carbon emissions).

It is a great interview...in fact all the interviews that Bobby has done for this record have been wonderfully endearing. Raw, honest and incredibly brave....

Thank you, I found it emotional, informative and striking in the honesty of the interchange..

' a great article, safe trip abroad to you'

Thanks Charles, Peter, David and everyone. I've already told Pete Azzopardi by email that I was channeling the songwriters and poets among you (Pete, Randy, Jeff, Spence, David etc) with some of the questions - I know you think the process of creativity is not often properly tackled in such interviews. So thank you fellas, it made for a better interview!

Pad, thank you.

Have you thought of interviewing Mark Wallis? He's now helped create 3 of their very best records and it would be interesting to hear about working with grant and robert. And also ask him how it differed from his work with U2.

Thanks Matthias. Who knows, maybe one day I'll interview Mark Wallis. Not sure where I'd get it published though.

The link I gave above now leads to the new edition's front page (The Ticket section of The Irish Times is weekly), so to read my interview with Robert you will need to go to http://www.ireland.com/theticket/article s/2008/0502/1209632742703.html

The previous link now leads to a great Nick Cave interview though, so that is worth reading anyway.
