If anyone can explain what "bailed up" means, this confused American would appreciate it:

rock city
Mikey Cahill. Herald Sun. Melbourne, Vic.: May 15, 2008. pg. I.21

IT'S time to say hello to the new kids on the block, minus the gel quiffs.

Introducing Cloud Control, and the John Steel Singers. The two bands (above) are currently getting even cosier than they appear in the photo on their Flying High National Tour together.
<snip>
Morrissey (TJSS) started the band with Scott Bromiley (vocals/guitar/piano/trumpet). The Brisbane pair "started as a three piece but over the next six months we gathered more friends to make up the six members we have today", Morrissey says.

They knew they were doing something very right when Grant McLennan from the Go-Betweens bailed up Morrissey in a urinal.

"He complimented us on a great set. I don't think I said much back, I just stood there dumbfounded and awestruck," Morrissey gushes.

The band's EP of last year, The Dove and the Eagle, contained ragtime oddity Rhapsody in Red and yielded Triple J falsetto fave Strawberry Wine. Morrissey isn't a fan of the sickly liquor though.

"I have moved on from strawberry wine to slightly better-quality stuff. I did try some recently but it was so sweet it made me ill.

"But it certainly made me feel more amorous," he adds.

Lovely.

Cloud Control, with the John Steel Singers, The National, 191 Moorabool St, Geelong, tonight 8.30pm.

These guys are one of a number of Brisbane bands that are beginning to sound ok. Its been a while since Brisbane's had any decent new acts but atm these guys, Yves Klein Blue, I Heart Hiroshima, Violent Soho and a few others are pretty good.
