No one across the pond will know who this is, but here's doffing my cap to the too soon departed Mr. Tim Russert. A man among men and a beacon of fairness, truth and honor. He'll be missed. |

Holy crap, he was young! I'll never forget watching Russert nailing Donald Rumsfeld to the wall when questioning him about the state of the Iraq war a few years into it. He had him squirming in the corner. |

Yeah, he nailed ol' Rumsfeld to the wall. His untimely passing is almost as sadly ironic as Grant's, when you consider how much the guy lived and breathed politics and that he won't be around for the rest of THIS political season. He was also noted for his close relationship with his father, Big Russ (whom he wrote a book about), as well as his son, so that this is the weekend before Father's Day lends a certain poignancy as well... |

Another one that Tim nailed, the racist David Duke. He also exposed Ross Perot for not having any substance behind the rhetoric in 1992. |

This is definitely one of those deaths that caused me to take a sharp inhale when I saw the news. As a political junkie and a fan of quality journalism, I think Russert's passing is just very, very sad. I'd trade him for entire "news" teams of Fox, CNN and MSNBC combined. |
