It says they own the rights to their first two albums and are looking to have them re-released. So that will surely happen soon enough I hope. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/01/arts/m usic/01feel.html?th&emc=th |

Thanks Padraig. They were always a mystery band to me. I never knew a thing about them and this article now explains why. I stumbled onto "The Good Earth" around the time of its release and loved it and eventually ended up with all four albums. But it was a long time before I discovered that those were the only four albums. I thought surely there must be something between "Crazy Rhythms" and "Good Earth." When I started playing guitar again after a many-years hiatus, it was "The Good Earth" and "Only Life" that I'd play to for fun and exercise. A new album would be really interesting. |

Yeah, thanks for the article, Padraig, that was a good read. I'd always kind of wondered what happened to them. Interesting that they're getting back together. I've always liked their first album, although I think the material after that tended to be a bit too basic or straight-forward for my tastes. But that song "Only Life" is a beautiful example of melodic understatement. There's a good Speed the Plough EP or mini-LP, too. |

I have a long interview on cassette with Anton Fier, circa 1990, which includes a lot about his late 70's early 80's drumming stint in the "Crazy Rhythms" era Feelies. Anton grew frustrated at the lack of activity of the band in 1981 and joined Pere Ubu, recorded an album with them, and then they disbanded. Anton then when on to form his own band, The Golden Palominoes. |

I was surprised - but delighted - to the see this in the NYT last week. I love the Feelies, just love 'em. I wish to heck they'd re-release "The Good Earth," which flipped my lid back in college but I've never owned on CD. I guess they played with SY in NYC last weekend - I got about 10 e-mails from friends asking if I was flying out. It's true it's kind my dream lineup for a show. But work prevails again... |
