I'm taking a survey. Around where I live, there's a lot of, as we say, "mutton dressed as lamb", particularly one woman who, though in her 50s, is trying to look sexy in the way a twenty-something might, by, among other things, wearing short shirts that expose her belly area. What, in your opinion, is the maximum age a woman should rock the bare midriff look? 25? 30? 45?...

Do they even effect that look at all across the pond?

It's not just a female thing. There are guys in my 'hood who walk around without shirts in hot weather when they should really be wearing a parka - or a tent. You know, Chicago guys who like a polish sausage five or six meals a day. I guess in general, I don't like to see a lot of skin on anyone unless I'm at the swimming pool, and even there I wouldn't mind seeing less of it. But if someone's gonna rock the midriff, I guess I'm saying 30 as a cutoff. Same for guys in hip-hop gear. And anyone in a hoodie.

Sounds about right...saw a guy that had to be in his mid-40s at the supermarket the other day with most of the gear, and unfortunately I turned to look his direction at the very moment he'd bent down over his cart, displaying pants so low down that ample crack was visible. (Homer Simpson shudder)

Men are equal opportunity offenders, 'tis true. Every now and then, here, you'll see some older dude, a sexagenarian, some guy who should know better, whose wife, family and/or friends apparently don't love him enough to tell him it's not a good idea, wearing a Speedo at the pool or beach. Which, to paraphrase that old douchebag Ralph Nader, is unwise at any age...

The benefIts of getting older is that you just don't care, gone is the self consciousness of youth. On the other hand with clothing often less is more.
Though when you get to my age (early 40's) it is not cool to go round as a rapper- you look better with conventional clothes. Generally 3 piece suit and oxford brogues should be the minimum and black shoes only for the city!!!?

I'm wearing a muffin top Iron Maiden t-shirt and a hoody right now. I think I look spiffing.

low jeans, suitably long(ish) top will do the trick on almost any of us - waist size or age irrespectively...

Rob, those Chicago guys have too much temptation. Not only the polish sausage but Superdawgs dragged through the garden, Italian Beef and the pizza. Detroit area dogs are pretty basic, hot dogs with skins, chili sauce, onions and yellow mustard. The best ones are at one of the many Greek restaurants in metro Detroit.
