A great show that Robert began solo, with the other "members of the quartet" joining one by one. There was a short break between the first 9 songs (acoustic set) and the rest (electric set).
Robert explained that he wrote Rock'n Roll Friend in the 80'ies when his then girlfriend worked in the daytime and he (as a Go-Betweens member) worked in the nighttime. The song is from her perspective, describing how she must have seen him. He also explained (speaking German) that German Farmhouse is about the years he spent in a small place in rural Bavaria.
The atmosphere was very friendly, plus we got no less than three encores, which was just gorgeous. A thoroughly enjoyable experience. |
