Gus, voted world's ugliest dog, passed away, poor dear. He was 9. So, here's an honorary, virtual scratch behind the ears to you, you sweet pooch! Beauty, even in the canine world, is in the eye of the beholder. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/unleashe d/2008/11/worlds-ugliest.html |

He looks way less ugly in the photo here than in another snap I saw of him some time back. He was, indeed, ugly. Although I'm sure he had a great personality. And all the other dogs liked him. And he made his own clothes. |

He had a masculine face and looked good without a shirt... |

Awwww the poor little critter! He looks almost cute in that picture, but gawd love him, I spotted another pic of him elsewhere... Our own (decidedly handsome) family sheepdog finally succumbed to a brain tumor a few weeks ago. His (decidedly less handsome) "bits and pieces" canine buddy is missing him terribly... |

Hey, Catherine: We never got the full skinny on your R. Forster European "Stalker" Tour. How'd it go? Did you have a great time? Do tell! |

Y'know, a Chinese Crested might be just the dog for the Obamas. He ain't got much hair, 'cept for that pompadour doo-dad on top, so he oughta be fairly hypo-allergenic! |

Oh no, Joe. I'm not quite that crass. This bit of Obama ephemera (say that three times fast) probably hasn't made it across the pond: Barack promised his two girls a dog once the election was over; what kind of dog they'll get has been the subject of intense media speculation here. Why worry about other trivia, like, I dunno, the war, the economy, when you can speculate about what kind of puppy will occupy the White House? One requirement that was mentioned was that it be hypo-allergenic, since his daughter, Malia, is allergic. |

it's a shame that most hypoallergenic dogs are small ones. other than standard poodles. and really, do they even count as dogs? it actually makes for quite the list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypoallerge nic_dog_breeds pulis are INCREDIBLE. think of a mop, but without a stick. airedales/welsh terriers make for one the most sophisticated looking creatures out there. all too suitable for an obama companion. most of the others look like perm victims. |
