Needless to say, there's a sense of relief here in Chicago - I mean, we couldn't give the world one of most inspiring politicians in a generation without providing a counterweight, right? It's not the Chicago way.

If he's Chicago, I think four of the last seven Illinois governors will have seen jail time. That's better than 50%. As Jon Stewart pointed out, you're better off committing murder.

Ironically enough, that well-meaning, but perhaps feckless Fitzgerald may've screwed the pooch, rushing things before there was a case. The imp of the perverse that haunts me finds it amazing that there may or may not be enough to charge him on, and that they're, apparently, even getting cold feet about impeaching him. In essence, he's on tape TALKING about committing a crime, but not actually committing it.

He's got tremendous hair though. Hair like a Kennedy.

David Mamet on the whole situation:

"I am from Chicago, and, so, having been disillusioned with politics at an early age I do not become involved. The only reason I vote is because they pay me."
