My case is packed, the bus to the airport leaves in a little over 2 hours - I'm going!

My credit card is probably maxed out. (The bill hasn't arrived yet ane even if it had I'd be afraid to look at it). I'll probably be living on beans on toast for the next six months, my only new music being bad disco compilations gleaned from the 25c bargain bin at my local charity shop, but I don't care...

Sheer commitment Catherine, wow! Have a lovely time! Sure you will, I have never seen someone as exited at the prospect of seeing Robert/GB's as you, really, what a fan, its great being a fan.

Safe travelling, that disco comp sounds cool by the way, gotta be cool.

Catherine, I think it is so fantastic what you are doing. Life is nothing but experiences and you are piling them up.

Its a shame you did not have a camcorder with you on your travels, it'd make great viewing (maybe u have!?), 'Catherine's Forster Diaries!'

I reckon she's followed Robert all the way back to Brisbane and he's now trying to shoo her gracefully off his lawn.

I think she's stuggling to pay the leccy bill after that trip and can't get back on the internet....probably worth it though.

Cheers
Jon

Fear not, I'm neither sitting in darkness, or on Robert's front lawn!

Truth is, since I got back, I've been crazy busy in work, and have had little time for much else. I've sorely neglected the board, along with all but a select few email buddies.

The Vienna gig was definitely worth the trip. Robert and the band looked pretty tired, which isn't surprising, at the end of such a long tour. It didn't dampen their enthusiasm one bit though. They were clearly enjoying themselves, intent on using up every last ounce of energy they had left! I was too busy revelling in the show to take a note of the setlist, but some kindly soul has obviously passed it on, and it's up on Robert's site.

Highlights for me were Caroline and I, and Don't Touch Anything which I hadn't heard on the tour up to then, and was jealous of you all who got to hear it in Germany!

At one stage, Robert told a story about he and Karin staying in one of the swankier hotels in Vienna, when on honeymoon. Unfortunately, my german is pretty rusty, so a lot of it was lost on me. I'm guessing it was pretty funny, judging by the reaction of the audience. (Most of my conversations on the trip began with the phrase “Sprechen Sie Englisch?”)

I found the whole night very emotional. Demon Days found me wiping away big fat tears. Quiet Heart just about broke mine. Thankfully the emotions weren't all sad, though. Overall, the show was exhilerating. Finishing with 121, I was left with a gigantic grin on my face, but also a little tear in my eye. I enjoyed this tour so much, I really didn't want it to end.

Quite a few friends (and probably a few round these parts!) think I'm just a little nuts, going to seven gigs in less than two weeks, but I can genuinely say I enjoyed each and every one of them, and have great memories of every one.

In honesty, I have to check the setlists, to remind myself of what particular songs were performed at specific gigs, but what made each one special for me was meeting people from the board and being able to share the experience with you, not just in typeface, but face to face! I'd happily do it all again tomorrow.

It wasn't just great to see some amazing performances by four wonderful musicians, but to also have had the pleasure of spending time in the company of some genuinely interesting, funny, really great people. That's probably the part that will stay with me longest.

Glenn's parting question to me before they headed back to their hotel, was to ask if I was going to the Australia shows in January. My answer was, only if my numbers come up in the Lottery! He suggested I keep playing. So far I've only won a tenner, so I've got a long way to go! In the meantime, I've had to hide the credit card, and I'm reacquainting myself with the joys of beans on toast!

And I only sit in the dark when I'm listening to Grant singing Quiet Heart...
