This will probably be my last visit for a few days, so just thought I'd take the chance to wish you all a good Christmas and hope you have a great 2009. (2009, how scary is that? Everything these days just makes me feel old. Simon Withers 45 3/4). And maybe I'll get to meet a few more of you next year and put some more faces to names - there has to be some gigs that a few of us will be going to (Buzzcocks/Lurkers Bristol in Feb?) |

I've been a bit of a slacker, posting-wise (when am I gonna get to that year-end list?), but I don't want to miss the chance to wish y'all and safe and happy holiday. Been a pleasure to spend '08 with you and here's to a terrific '09. Cheers! |

2 years ago, Jim from Slade popped into a guitar shop in Birmingham, he lives in the Black Country ( I grew up between there and Scotland) not far away, anyhow, it Was cloes to Xmas I think it was the 24th actually. I had been looking for a new acoustic. The shop guy was helping me when Jom walked in. He knew him. So he shots "Hi Jim!" and walks of leaving me in favour of a member of Slade. Can;t say I blame him. Anyways, they are about 15ft away, and Jim says something like, what you doing leaving this poor bloke sitting on an amp looking like a lost soul! Jim comes and sits on another amp next to me and we started to jam. It was great fun, tinkering away on 2 taylor guitars worth about £4 grand!! He was lovely and says he has to get out the house this time of the year a his wife alwyas plays Slade's Xmas song for everyone coming round to the house!! I was, of course, very honoured to play with the great man! Or mon, as the dialect goes in the Black Country of Bilston!! |
