Not really bought enough albums this year to contribute to that thread

1) My Bloody Valentine - RoundHouse Saturday (by a country mile)
2) Robert Forster (Oxford)
3) Wedding Present (George Best - was that this year or last?)

Been a great year for gigs in Sydney - these were my favorites:

Wilco - Enmore Theatre, March
Robert Forster - The Opera House, August
Sufjan Stevens - State Theatre, January
The National - Sydney Recital Hall, January
Queens of the Stone Age - Luna Park Bigtop, March
Kings of Leon - Hordern Pavillion, January
Eddy Current Suppression Ring - Excelsior Hotel, December
Band of Horses - The Metro, August
The Black Keys - Manning Bar, June
Paul Weller - Enmore Theatre, August

Looking forward to Neil Young, My Morning Jacket and Leonard Cohen in January and the Hold Steady in February.

Hang on Hang on Hang on.........
O.k. Devo ties with The reformed Triffids, fronted by Steve Kilbey who "lost his cool" and his voice singing Triffids songs.

C Gull - I think The Wedding Present is probably October 2007...I went to two, but they were mighty fine gigs.

The Police - MEN Arena, Manchester (More for the fact I finally got to see them)
The Bangles - Liverpool Academy (I'm amazed this made my list, but It was really good; Maybe my 80s revival)
Conor Oberst - Manchester Acedemy 2 (Decent set and a good support [Euros Child])

Oh there's too many to list like that, so also Iron & Wine, Camera Obscura, Bon Iver, Robert Forster (Of Course), Noah & The Whale and Fleet Foxes.

Cheers
Jon

i saw the bangles a couple of years ago john. a little half-heartedly, but it was seriously one of the best gigs i've ever seen. i missed michael, mind.

on a similar note - i saw kylie last night for the very first time. again, not much in the way of expectations, but i've been rather giddy all day. i can't believe i left it 20 years!

anyway, the charlatans for my gig of the year.

3. Jackie Leven - essen at the zeche carl with my father at his first concert ever at the age of 74 and jackie in that form!
4. tvp's in cologne at the gloria (meeting dan treacy and talking with him very nicely for more than 1 1/2 hours...)
5. scott matthew - duisburg at the hundertmeister

Spence, Magazine at such a small venue would be brilliant, not sure its worth the expense/time from Sunny Widnes though.

Cheers

I didn't see many shows this past year but even if I had it would easily be Robert in San Francisco.

Robert at the Opera House. The Saturday night show edged it over the Friday night.
